Homebase
Date
Project Overview
Homebase was a research and design initiative addressing homelessness services in Edmonton, CA. We conducted field research with community members, mapped challenges in existing systems, and created wireframes and mockups to shape an MVP for development.

Date
SPRINT
Google’s intensive five-day process to tackle an initial prototype. The method, originally developed at Google, focuses on understanding a problem, generating ideas, building a realistic prototype, and testing it with users.

Date
Process
Working with engineers, product developers, designers and SME’s, we created a MVP prototype in 5 days.

Date
Prototype
Original prototype, designed in figma, had a service-provider portal and a community-member platform to communicate and view available services.

Date
Research
Conducted interviews, field visits, and observations with service providers and unhoused individuals in Edmonton, CA. to identify barriers to essential services and inform an empathetic, user-centered design.

Date
Mistakes Made
Our prototype featured a “busy-ness” tracker for services and live feed video of services. We quickly learned this was not something that would be acceptable.

Date
Final Designs
Final designs included a mobile application, accessible via safari as well as a web app where services are managed

Date
“App Armour” Integration
Homebase is designed to be easily integrated into “App Armour” a platform where enterprises and cities can build their own ‘custom’ public saftey application
